Ufogel looks like an alien object that has landed in Nußdorf-Debant near Lienz, in East Tyrol, Austria. The distinctive larch-wood structure stands on stilts above the hillside and offers quiet, comfort and openness. Designed by architect Peter Jungmann, this unique design house recalls both a UFO and a bird, a combination that gave Ufogel its name. Like a nest in an unspoiled landscape, the holiday home frames breathtaking views of the Lienz Dolomites through large panoramic windows.
Ufogel Design House – an exceptional living sculpture

Ufogel is defined by its extraordinary architecture. The vaulted ceiling is covered with traditional shingles, and the building shell is made almost entirely from larch. Within a compact 45 m², it provides the comforts of modern living. The ground floor includes an elegant kitchenette and a dining area for up to eight people. Upstairs, a lounging area sits beside the panoramic window, where guests can sit or lie back and take in the landscape.
A house with views of the East Tyrolean mountains

Beneath the arch is the main sleeping area, with space for up to four people. A small bathroom also opens toward the mountain view. Inside, nearly all of the furniture and the floors are made from larch, reinforcing the warm, continuous character of the interior. The kitchen bench can be folded away for extra flexibility. A stove brings gentle heat to the whole house, while free Wi-Fi, satellite TV and on-site parking add everyday convenience. For hot summer days, automatic sun protection is installed and can also be operated manually when needed.
Design house for rent offers the chance to retreat

This modern wooden holiday house was completed in 2013 in Nußdorf-Debant. The Zettersfeld ski area is nearby, and the compact building commissioned by the Pitterl family offers an unusual place to stay. The larch design house can be rented by holiday guests; at the time, overnight stays started at €120 for two people.
