This small contemporary Mexican home was designed by artist Gabriel Orozco and architect Tatiana Bilbao. The project represents an interesting collaboration between two creative disciplines. The holiday home is set in a beautiful Mexican landscape, and despite its modest appearance, it offers open spaces and breathtaking views of the ocean and the rising land in the distance.
Mexican House – Modern Exterior Design
The overall design is simple and highly functional. It is a single-storey building with a modest volume, and the facade is kept clean with white stucco. The focus of the Mexican house is the large circular basin on the plateau. Two exterior concrete staircases lead to the second level, which is the roof. Dark hardwood floors are used as both an edge and a platform around the pool. The material blends with the surrounding rocks, making the pool feel like a natural pond and the platform like part of the landscape.
Modern Architecture – Mexican House
There are only two main areas in the Mexican house: a kitchen and a living room that can also be used as a bedroom. The rooms are located beneath the roof and near the pool. The design is minimalist, with a strict combination of white and gray. This gives the interior of the Mexican house a cool feeling that contrasts with the warm climate outside. The creators of the house seem to assume that its inhabitants will spend most of their time outdoors.

That is why the house draws attention to its outdoor spaces. The Mexican house has several exits leading outside. Concrete platforms give the residents places to dine, sit and admire the beauty of nature. There is also an outdoor shower and a comfortable hammock. One of the open-air platforms is covered with dried palm leaves, which serve as protection from the strong Mexican sun.
