Peter Zumthor, the great and award-winning Swiss architect, designed The Unterhus, in a small chalet, Leis, a municipality just a few kilometers from Vals-les-bains (Switzerland).

Unterhus has a total area of 150 square meters on three floors.
All of the rooms have a breathtaking view on the mountain world. The chalet stones, completely made of pine and maple, Switzerland, realized the dreams of the ideal holiday for lovers of mountains, the solitude and design.
It, from the outside, in fact, seems to be the classic cabin interior design elements, signed, among others, by Rodolfo Dordoni , and Antonio Citterio.

Split View Mountain Lodge. Gelid. Norway
Split View Mountain Lodge in Norway, in the proximity of a ski resort that is very popular in the valley Hallingdal.
On 130 square meters, by the tradition of the construction of the mountains in Norway, the project by Reiulf Ramstad Arkitekter, the architectural office based in Oslo are inspired.
The cottage is owned by a family of four, four-bedroom, living room and dining room, a game room, a mezzanine for the younger children and a body attached to the guests or the grandparents to visit. The master volume houses the bedrooms and then divided into two branches, each for living and dining room with the kitchen for the day.

The volume consists of a main body that follows the natural contours of the landscape.
The wood covers the inside and the outside to close interrompendosi only in correspondence of the huge glass window, the pine nuts and the ends of the wings of the volume, and thus ensures the continuity with the outside world and the views of the surrounding mountains.
Along the wall of the main volumes in the window of pentagonal shape, to take form, a huge glass window, pinion, plug in the volumes. The wood formwork from the outside will tend, with time, you can take a silver coloring, with the further integration with the surroundings covered with snow, in which it is used.
Within, the use of multiple layers of the plate is, the building can adapt to the slope of the land, connected to each area-function, and is thus detached from the other, but visually.

The main building is on two floors: the ground floor is the kitchen and the living room on the first floor to the guest rooms. The second building is designed as a small retreat.

The type of space, carry out the constructive idea and a saddle roof, the relationship with the tradition of the place. The large window openings in the living and dining room, however, is likely to break the frame. The rooms are hidden behind the facade of the slits in the Windows. The traditional forms were not refused, but accepted and developed with the attention and care that is suitable for the languages of modern architecture.
