01/06/2016 – Piano35 was presented in Turin as the restaurant inside the Intesa Sanpaolo skyscraper, the white steel-and-glass tower designed by Renzo Piano Building Workshop. Located on the 35th floor, almost at the height of the Mole Antonelliana, the restaurant offers a 360-degree view over Turin and the Alps.
The project is part of a wider gastronomic system created by Intesa Sanpaolo, with the gourmet restaurant on the 35th floor, a panoramic lounge bar on the 37th floor and a cafeteria on the ground floor. The restaurant is surrounded by a bioclimatic greenhouse with exotic and Mediterranean plants, giving the dining room a distinctive atmosphere above the city.
The original kitchen project was developed with the University of Gastronomic Sciences in Pollenzo and led by chef Ivan Milani, supported by maitre Adalberto Robbio and a large staff. The restaurant opened to the public at the end of June 2016, while the lounge bar opened earlier in the month.
The interior emphasizes transparency, elegance and the view. Round and rectangular tables, ivory-colored chairs and custom-made details by local artisans create a refined but understated setting. Guests enter from Corso Inghilterra 3, reach the reception desk by escalator and then take the lift to the upper floors.
The logo, designed by Migliore + Servetto Architects, recalls an elevator button with a fork and spoon at its center. The simple name Piano35 brings together the restaurant’s key ideas: its height, its panorama and its cuisine.
At the presentation, Intesa Sanpaolo chairman Gian Maria Gros-Pietro framed the project around beauty, culture and know-how: a place where food is experienced with the eyes as well as the palate, with Turin and the Alps as part of the setting.
