At Salone del Mobile 2013 in Milan, London designer Benjamin Hubert unveiled a lounge chair for ClassiCon. The inspiration for the chair came from tents and sports products, with an emphasis on spatial perception and flexible textiles. In his design projects, Hubert focused on experimenting with materials and techniques without compromising ease or comfort.
Lounge chair by Benjamin Hubert for ClassiCon

Sound-absorbing acoustic materials, along with refined, elastic, lightweight, transparent and robust textiles, appear more and more often in new furniture. The technical characteristics of these new materials fascinated Hubert, who designed the Membrane lounge chair for ClassiCon, which is covered with a highly flexible material. The product is easy to assemble and can be manufactured efficiently. The substructure is made from coated aluminum and steel tubing. A technical 3D CNC-shaped knitted textile is stretched over the frame.
The lounge chair has a contemporary design

Sitting on the Membrane chair feels as comfortable as sitting on thick cushions. At only 3 kilograms, the chair is extremely lightweight and easy to move. The superimposed layers of fabric produce a marbled effect. The chair is suitable for the living room, patio or balcony.
