We will show you a short tutorial on how to sew and install a canopy for your balcony or terrace.
Fabric and materials for balcony and terrace awnings

Although you can sew a balcony or terrace canopy yourself, you first need to determine the size. Choose the right shape for the available space, either rectangular or triangular. We recommend a triangular shape for beginners because it is easier to sew and tension.
Only then should you buy the necessary equipment:
Fabric – buy material about 8% smaller than the size of the balcony or terrace. For example, if your terrace measures 4 m wide by 2 m long, you need fabric with a maximum size of about 3.70 x 1.80 m.
Three D-rings, three hooks, three tensioners or straps, or optional stainless steel springs/shackles with three bolts are needed for the tensioning mechanism. Ask at your local hardware store for detailed advice so you can choose suitable parts. Ideally, select the stainless steel option.
You will also need a sewing machine, scissors, pins, a tape measure, and a ruler.
Building awnings for your balcony and terrace – instructions

Fold the fabric triangle and test it to make sure the dimensions are correct and the tensioning mechanism works. Then cut the material into a triangle, sew a hem, attach the D-rings to the three corners, and fix three shackles with bolts to the front of the building or to a post. Now all that remains is to install the awning over the balcony and terrace; this should be done by at least two people.
