"Six Tables on Water" is an exhibition by the famous Italian designer Gaetano Pesce at David Gill Gallery in London. Each piece represents the surface, depth, and density of six kinds of water – oceans, lagoons, rivers, lakes, ponds, and puddles. The limited collection of tables uses imagined aerial views of each landscape. Additional details include small islands, boats, and steps leading from the Venetian lagoon.

Pesce’s recent work presents contemporary materials through experimental technologies that push the limits of production. The Italian artist explores the elasticity and sensuality of silicone, resin, and foam. Realistic surfaces are created with liquid resin, rigid polyurethane foam, PVC, and soft urethane resin. His approach treats liquid materials as a way to reflect the nature of our time, valuing difference, imperfection, and the human trace over machine-like perfection.

The tables are so realistic that it is hard to believe you are not really seeing a sea, lagoon, river, or lake. According to Pesce, the exhibition also reflects on how people treat water and asks viewers to consider it with greater respect.
