Picnics are great fun, but they are not always practical when winter weather is bad or when you simply long for green space. To turn every meal into a picnic on a green meadow, Haiko Cornelissen Architects designed the aluminum dining table "PicNYC," which brings the outdoor experience directly into the living room. And if you accidentally pour a glass of water on it, do not worry. It may even help the grass grow faster.
The PicNYC Dining Table Brings Nature into the Living Room

The natural dining table design has an aluminum frame, sturdy square legs and a tray-like top. Soil and stones are placed beneath the turf. When you water the grass, the excess water drains into the stones. Sunlight, irrigation and normal indoor conditions determine the look of the dining table. Unfortunately, there is no mini lawn mower, so the grass must be trimmed by hand with scissors. The table can be planted with turf, flowers or wheatgrass.

This design table by Haiko Cornelissen invites people to reflect on the fast-growing trend of urban farming. It brings the experience of a picnic into the busy city and even into your own home. The Amsterdam-based architecture firm presents the table as a surreal meeting point between nature and city life, transforming dining without relying on conventional table decorations.
