Paris-based designer Laurent Corio created Dissidence, a hammock with a wooden frame, for the Prix Émile Hermès design competition. Developed in collaboration with the French woodworking company Tecsabois, the design was selected among the competition’s twelve finalists. Instead of being tied with ropes like a conventional outdoor hammock, the fabric is held by two metal rings that slip over the diamond-shaped wooden frame. The rings sit neatly at the ends of the structure, allowing the hammock to rock smoothly without friction. Corio chose a blue fabric that contrasts with the pale wood, and the light, movable frame makes the hammock suitable for indoor or outdoor relaxation.
