This application of interior design has a very special purpose. This pirate decoration is not in a nursery, but is designed for the CT scanner room in the Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital in New York. The concept helped make the space less scary for children. Children who are examined every day in the hospital are aged 1-16 years.
Pirate decoration that puts kids at ease
CT is used to view internal injuries that are not visible with X-ray machines. The medical device makes children afraid as they enter into the narrow tunnel. But with this creative decorating, children are relaxed and think that the investigation could be a game, which makes it much easier for doctors to calm the child down before the scan begins. The pirates in the scanner are decorated like the rudder of a wooden pirate ship and the bridge is a dashboard.
Pirate decoration and comic drawings
This interior design with pirate decor makes the atmosphere in the hospital much more welcoming to children. It’s not a ghost ship of pirates and thieves, but a sweet boat with a tiger and monkey as teammates. Not only is the scanner is decorated like a pirate ship, but this theme extends across the entire scanning room. Funny sketches and smiling faces adorn the walls and furniture. The floor is painted like a blue sea. Everything seems nice and relaxed to take the fear and anxiety away from both children and parents.
