This fascinating hybrid design of a lamp and shower was designed by Japanese studio Nendo for Axor, the bathroom brand. Nendo’s installation combines showerheads with lamps, creating a cascade of water from the shade. The design was presented in two versions: pendant and floor lamps.
Pendant shower and hybrid lamp design

Oki Sato of Nendo described the idea as a way to bring the archetypal lighting of the living room together with water, giving the shower a more sensuous dimension. The result is not simply a shower or a lamp, but a hybrid object that turns light and water into an everyday design experience.

This installation is part of Axor WaterDream, a project exploring possible future bathroom scenarios.
Philippe Grohe, head of Axor, noted that the natural meeting of light and water frees the experience from traditional room boundaries: reading under a lamp and showering no longer have to belong to separate spatial worlds.
