This 25-square-meter apartment, located in a mountain resort near Madrid, was rebuilt in 2013 according to a concept by Bériot, Bernardini Arquitectos. Because the space was extremely tight, the living area was radically restructured and the rooms were merged. Except for the bathroom, the small apartment was completely gutted, and two living boxes, or wooden containers, were integrated. The architects wanted a bright interior, with daylight reaching into every corner. Large windows were therefore installed, bringing in more sun and offering a breathtaking view of the mountain scenery.
Conversion of the Puerto de Navacerrada loft
One living box is designed for sleeping and includes a double bed and a bunk bed, while the other structure functions as a living area and offers window-side cabins. The sleeping area is equipped with a folding table that can serve as a dining table, a work surface, or a divider between the two zones.
Comfortable living room with wood
The flooring in the small apartment was redesigned with black linoleum, which combines with wood and bright red bedding to create a warm atmosphere. Nothing essential is missing, even for cooking. The small kitchen and storage area are hidden behind long curtains.
