This art sculpture was created by students at the University of Saint Joseph in Macau. The installation was made of bamboo and covered with a white, awning-like fabric. Its spherical forms and bamboo ramp make the design feel like a contemporary gazebo. The sculpture is a temporary installation at Plaza Sai Van.
Bamboo art sculpture with integrated LED lights
This bamboo art sculpture was built by students at the University of Saint Joseph in Macau. The pavilion structure is made from bamboo poles arranged in a lattice. The installation was temporary and stood at Sai Van Plaza for a limited period. The pavilion could be visited at any time and offered an unforgettable sound and light show in the evening. LED lights mounted on the bamboo structure shone in different colors and were controlled by motion detectors.
The bamboo art sculpture in Macau – Design and construction
Design students created the art sculpture. They also took part in the construction themselves, supported by local craftsmen experienced in bamboo structures. This modern installation stands among Macau’s other striking architecture and reflects the city’s vivid visual culture.
