This modern residence is located in Dortmund, Germany, and was completed in 2012 by Heiderich Architekten. The owners wanted to settle down in a house shaped by very specific ideas, and they took an active role in the design and construction process. Alongside the elegant modern geometry, light became one of the defining elements of the entire project.
House design where light becomes the fourth dimension
Inside and outside, the spaces are defined by light. After careful research and planning, the lighting was integrated into the home design, and the interior design was tailored to the owners’ wishes. Lighting has such a strong impact on the result that it is treated as the project’s fourth dimension. Without this essential element, the house would look very different from both outside and inside.
Modern house design with elegant architecture and interiors
The design of the house was shaped by more than the positioning of interior and exterior lighting. The residence was built in a modern style with clean geometric forms. The interior is as minimalist and functional as the exterior. Wide sliding glass doors open the rear facade, extending the rooms visually and blurring the boundary between terrace and garden. A rectangular swimming pool near the terrace offers a refreshing place to cool off on hot summer days.
