Tekio is a collection of modular designer paper lamps that can take many forms. Designer Anthony Dickens created the lights from bamboo and paper and presented them at Clerkenwell Design Week in 2011. The design was inspired by traditional Japanese chochin lanterns, which have been used for centuries and can still be seen outside homes and shops in Japan.

The innovation lies in the lamp’s flexibility. Each frame is a paper tube connected by hinges that can lock at right angles, allowing the frames to form many different shapes. The lamps can be used with LED or fluorescent light sources.

Tekio gives customers the freedom to shape the lamp themselves, from a semicircular wall light to a larger looped installation. The design invites creativity and lets the user take part in the final form.

Tekio can work as a standalone lamp, a wall lamp, or an adjustable lighting installation. It can outline a lounge, a bar, or a seating area, or create a continuous line of light between two walls. More than a lamp, it can help divide a room or highlight a particular zone.
