Casa Fazenda is an exotic house located in Amarantina, in the municipality of Ouro Preto, Brazil. Designed by Helena Teixeira Rios and Jacques Rios, it offers comfort, generous light and careful attention to detail. Surrounded by gardens and landscape, the property is a private retreat away from traffic noise.

The project shows a warm and expressive side of Brazilian residential architecture. Instead of shaping the house through purely graphic forms and clean lines, the architects chose a more natural look. Smooth surfaces are balanced with rough textures, while stone and wood create a welcoming atmosphere for everyday life.
Casa Fazenda offers a calm exotic atmosphere
Casa Fazenda sits in a beautiful setting with a mild climate and views of the surrounding green landscape. The site was chosen so the house could merge with the natural character of the land. At first, however, the property had no basic infrastructure; access roads, water, electricity and landscape work all had to be created, making the construction process a challenge.
The house is raised 50 cm above the ground to prevent moisture from entering, and its structure is supported by solid mahogany columns set on concrete bases. Almost all of the furniture was designed by the architects.
South American style
Casa Fazenda covers about 500 m2 and is organized as two built volumes, with garage and parking areas included in the composition. The pool sits between the two structures. One volume has an open, social character, with a spa area, outdoor hot tub, sauna, relaxation space, gourmet kitchen with bar and wood-burning stove, dining area and two suites with separate entrances. The other volume contains the private rooms. Glass roof panels bring the surrounding greenery closer to the interior. A stone wall at the center of the property plays a crucial role in the overall design.
