Living in a glass timber and cozy lodge room – "B" Casa

Pavilion

Built on a gently sloping hillside and glazed on two sides, this open, spacious living pavilion in wood and glass is defined by a simple, clean design. "B" House, a flat-roofed modern residential project by ch+qs arquitectos, was completed in 2011 in Berrocal, Segovia, Spain.

Residence

The living pavilion has a modern appearance, shaped by the use of wood on both the facade and the interior. The two-story, flat-roofed building contains a fully equipped kitchen and a large dining area, with doors that provide access to the outdoor areas.

Architecture

"B" House combines the fresh look of a glass facade with the warmth of wood, offering strong technical quality and carefully resolved design. At first glance, the simple living concept of this minimalist wooden pavilion becomes clear: ch+qs arquitectos designed it to blend with the surrounding landscape. The land in Berrocal was purchased 15 years earlier, but only 12 years later did the architects decide to build a home: a refuge in nature that reflects the landscape around it.

Throughout the region and through every season, yellow dominates the landscape, the architects note. In spring, meadows and valleys glow yellow. In summer, golden fields ripen under the Castilian sun. In autumn, nature appears in a yellow haze; in winter, flashes of lightning cut through the sky. In short, yellow was the color that best described the local landscape. The yellow door and yellow fireplace create an elegant transition between nature and architecture.

Wood and other natural materials dominate the interior. Used for the floors and ceilings, the wood creates a warm atmosphere throughout the living pavilion. To the west, there are views of brambles, moss-covered rocks and ash trees; to the east, the mountains glow bright yellow in the evening light. A romantic dream.
