Studio Aiko unveiled their latest project – modern architecture mixed with traditional Japanese style and principles of design. The building is a U-shaped masterpiece of stone and glass!
Modern architecture of Japan – house of glass and stone.
Minimalist architecture is a term one often hears today in Japan and it usually means a very minimalist style using a lot of concrete but Studio Aiko didn’t want to create a living space that clashed with the surroundings. For their latest project – a house in the Japanese countryside they tried to combine tradition and modernity. The vast program includes several buildings around a large courtyard. This Bungalow house is built with natural stone – through the use of the material, it fits perfectly into the landscape. The building opens with a glass facade that overlooks the courtyard. The glass insert relaxes on a stone façade and lets a lot of light inside. Glazing – new building, minimalist style – is all skillfully blended with elements of traditional Japanese architecture such as the red-roofed pavilion.
Modern architecture of Japan – a stylish interior.
Each building has just a single room. There is a courtyard decorated with bamboo, bonsai trees and stones, connected with each individual building. The spacious living room with two walls of glass is highly elegant. A suspended fireplace creates a cozy atmosphere and warms the room. A white sofa, two leather chairs and a coffee table offer a comfortable seating area around the fireplace. There is a kitchen and dining room and a library separated from the living room by wooden sliding doors.
