This modern pool house in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, was designed by Artillery for a private client. It uses the natural shade of a nearby elm, along with vines and shrubs around the pool.

The architecture was carefully adapted to its environment. Steel framing, folding glass doors, and zinc panels make the pool house feel like an appropriate extension of the main home.

The doors open completely, creating an easy transition between inside and outside.

The structure uses the existing elm for natural shade. The pergola is also intended to be covered gradually by climbing plants, creating more green shade over time.

Artillery was also commissioned for the interior decoration of the main house, including the original building and a new extension. The owner’s and designer’s love of wood is expressed throughout.
