A Wooden House on the Rocks Offers a Breathtaking Coastal View
The minimalist wooden house sits directly on the rocks. From certain angles, the building appears to float above the sea. A generous glass facade opens the interior toward the water and draws the coastal landscape inside. The villa is carefully integrated into its surroundings and forms part of a new project by Canadian architects Mackay-Lyons Sweetapple, where several houses are planned on a 1.84-square-kilometer site.
The steel structure gives the house stability, while the wood cladding of the facade creates a visual connection with the traditional architecture of the region. The living area is slightly angled toward the view. The concept is convincing not only for its modern construction, but also for its relatively low building cost.

Inside, the house is built from wood and extends from the living area on the north side, with ocean views, to the dining room on the south side. The bedrooms are located on the second floor, where the wooden exterior helps protect them from view.
