The New Life of the Workers on The Island of the Rose of Venice

28/07/2017 – the project of the Club, in the context of a full renovation of the entire artificial island in the lagoon of Venice, is known the past of the island and was converted into a luxury hotel with restaurant, spa, parks and villas, the project of Matteo Thun&Partners. In addition to the private pier of the island, the Club, was about twenty buildings from the beginning of the twentieth century, consisted of a hospital, several accommodations and services for the employees, the object of the intervention.

In the 1930s, it was the only place on the island, the same function for leisure and recreation, but it was in a state of extreme neglect. Today it is one of the four restaurants and bar of the resort is the luxurious 5* JW Marriott Venice Resort & Spa, awarded with a Michelin star.

The architectural intervention has involved the restoration of the original facade and restore the configuration of the building manufacture. The original layout of the building was retained, unchanged by a restoration of the surfaces (the outside) and a window connection with the external environment. The back of the building was not to be restored to keep in line with its historical value, but with a new architectural language. A new openness of the structure made of steel, traces echoes the silhouette of the original, in a room with outdoor tables. The place is surrounded by gardens of vegetables which it provides to the restauarant seasonal and fresh day to day.

The South facade of the rear of the building is the only one that remained. The contours used in the design of the portals are made of metal.

The interior design is characterized by its elegance and comfort, and is designed to perfectly fit in an environment, from the old value and is characterized by walls with a brick in sight. The region is dominated by the large bar in the middle, the stone and the typical colors of green and brown of the lagoon. The first floor houses a private dining room.
