Litracon is a translucent concrete material that differs from ordinary concrete through its ability to transmit light. Patented in 2002, the technology uses a fine structure of glass fibers to create both a stable building material and a light-transmitting surface.
Litracon Concrete As Interior Paneling

The material was invented by Hungarian architect Áron Losonczi and patented in 2002. Optical fibers embedded in the concrete transmit light from one side to the other, allowing figures behind the wall to appear as clear silhouettes. This makes Litracon especially interesting for interior wall coverings.

Transparent Concrete By Andreas Bittis

Designer Andreas Bittis has also developed a similar material by combining concrete with optical fibers. The system works in much the same way, and the density and structure can vary according to customer requirements. It is another innovative option for wall coverings and architectural surfaces.
