We propose an inspiring idea for garden design: this small garden has been completely rebuilt and transformed into a modern retreat from the city. The owner had a turtle in the garden and commissioned the landscaping company Pepo Botanic Design to build a modern terrarium. At the same time, the garden had to look modern and inviting.
Turtle in the garden – what must be considered
Pepo Botanic completed the task with great creativity: in the courtyard, a garden was designed according to minimalist principles. The pool is located at the center of the garden. It is divided in two: one half is for the owner, while the other half allows the large water turtle to swim. Thus, the turtle can enjoy the hot summer in the garden. Because larger animals in particular need more space, around 15 square meters, the gardeners decided to organize the entire garden as a large terrarium. A glass railing separates the pool from the wooden deck, where a cozy dining area is set in the fresh air. A small lawn offers a place to relax under the strong sun. Several species of native plants at different heights have been planted around the pool. Trees provide privacy and sun protection for the family.
Turtle in the garden – pond
For the well-being of the tortoise in the garden, the architects decided to create a small pond. The pond is only half a meter deep and lies in the sun. Thus, the water can be heated by sunlight, which is particularly important because turtles cannot regulate their body temperature. Thanks to thoughtful planning, it was possible to create a modern garden in a limited space that both people and the turtle can enjoy.
