Two modern hut designs were created by Luis Rebelo de Andrade in Braga, Portugal. The Snake Tree Houses project was developed in collaboration with a modular construction company. The idea was to move away from standard prefabricated concepts. These charming huts stand lightly on slender supports, like two snakes gliding between the trees. Like wild animals in their natural habitat, they seem to appear suddenly in the forest.

The choice of materials creates a feeling of harmony and closeness to nature, forming a quiet symbiosis between the buildings and the Pedras Salgadas park. The architects used new technology to achieve a light structure that appears to float above the forest floor. Local materials such as slate and wood help the shelter design settle into the landscape. These materials give the huts a degree of visual discretion, so they do not dominate the park.

Sustainability and ecology are central to the project. The ecological solutions include good insulation, efficient heating systems, water reuse, solar panels, LED lighting and other measures. Each cottage contains a studio with a private bathroom and kitchen. The design of the two houses is minimalist, yet it offers all the necessary comforts. After crossing the bridge, you enter a bright room with a large bed, while square windows open beautiful views over the treetops. The message is simple: enjoy peace and quiet surrounded by nature.
