Located in a remote area in Marlborough, this lake house combines modern architecture with nature. The client wanted a house for himself, his family and guests. Bossley Architects were inspired by the beauty of the site and prepared a design that opens the house toward the landscape.
Lake House impresses with a wooden facade

The Lake House by Bossley Architects was built from wood and glass and extends along the shore. The generously glazed facade allows plenty of sunlight into the living room. The building consists of several volumes connected by a long corridor. The northern part of the house is more enclosed, while a large balcony extends southward. The innovative design has brought the architects many awards and honors.
Lake House encourages living close to nature

The Lake House also has a comfortable interior. Wood defines the living room, where wooden furniture, flooring and wall cladding dominate the space. A fireplace and shaggy rug give the room a rustic feel. In the bathroom, a freestanding bathtub is made of wood, while green mosaic tiles fit the overall concept. The bedrooms are on the second floor, while the dining room, small kitchen and another bedroom are arranged below. For the owner’s wife, a small reading area with a leather chair and a library was created. Wood is the connecting element between the different areas of the house. This natural material also creates a visual link between inside and outside.
