Who says designer furniture is always created through collaboration? In fact, Israeli designer Itay Ohaly recently proved the opposite. He gave several designers the task of designing individual parts of one composition. The designers were not allowed to communicate during the experiment and had to rely entirely on their imagination.
Designer furniture – exhibition in a coal mine
The designer furniture was developed through a nonlinear process. The project group consists of several pieces of furniture that were to be designed according to a theme. The concept required each designer to work separately. The furniture pieces were then brought together. In this way, every composition becomes an exhibition of the work of many designers and architects. In this case, the composition was designed around the theme "The Machine", inspired by a coal mine.
Boutique furniture design – an idea from Israel
The furniture design is composed as follows: the chair legs, seat and backrest were presented at an exhibition in Belgium. Designers Dana Cannam, Joon Han Lee and Agata Karolina created this part. Fortunately, only minor changes were later needed in the final composition. The lamp was made by Nati Moskvitch, Naama Bergman and Itay Ohaly and was later attached to the desk. The table legs are the result of work by Christian Fiebig, Amelia Desnoyers and painter Eugenia Morpurgo. Here, the designers had to face their greatest challenge: assembling the table. The legs were modified so that they could support the entire structure.
