To find the perfect furniture for the dining room, consider the available space, the shape of the room, the number of seats you need and the way you use the area. Because the table plays the central role in a modern dining room, keep the following points in mind when choosing one.
The right dining furniture starts with size

First measure the length and width of the room. Write the dimensions on paper or save them on your phone. A useful rule is to leave about 1 meter of space around the table, including the distance from nearby furniture and walls.
Determining the shape of the room

Step back and look at your dining room to determine its geometric shape. Most dining rooms are square or rectangular. If you have a square dining room, look for a round or square table. If the room is rectangular, an oval or rectangular dining table is usually the best fit.
The number of guests at the table

The next question is how many people will sit at the table. Fortunately, there are standard sizes. A round table with a diameter of 120 cm can accommodate five to six people, 140 cm seats six to seven people, and 150 cm seats seven to eight people.
A square, rectangular or oval table should allow about 0.5 meters of width per chair. For example, to seat six people comfortably, you need a rectangular table of about 180 x 90 cm.
