Wood Bench by Yazan Hijazin – representing motion and stillness

Wood Furniture

BenchArc is a wooden bench designed by Yazan Hijazin, founder of Anknownymous in Amman, Jordan. The design combines two opposing qualities: motion and stillness. It suggests both the form of a tree and the remains of an old wooden ark, with branch-like supports, wood, bronze, and copper finishes. At 3.5 meters long, the bench has a strong presence in a large room.

The piece was designed for an art gallery. Visitors can sit, look at the artworks, or move through the space, and the bench becomes part of that rhythm. The designer wanted the only piece of furniture in the room to be functional, creative, and distinctive.

Furniture Design

BenchArc’s character comes from its scale, construction, and material mix. Natural, branch-like supports are combined with a modern minimalist line. The use of wood with bronze and copper creates a distinctive surface effect, and working with the metal finish required time and precision.
