1000 Roses for Two Bridges Public art installation in the city

Zweibrücken in Germany is known as the city of roses because of the famous Rose Garden of Princess Hildegard of Bavaria. The garden attracts professionals and rose lovers from around the world and contains more than 60,000 roses from around 2,000 cultivars.

Inspired by this identity, German artist Ottmar Hörl created a large public art installation titled “1000 Roses for Zweibrücken.”

A Public Art Installation Dedicated To The City Of Roses

From May 26 to June 10, 1,000 red plastic roses were placed on the ground in a clearly visible grid. The roses were about 12 inches wide and were also offered for sale. Hörl often chooses public settings where people can move freely around the work, communicate with one another, and experience symbolic objects outside the closed space of galleries and museums.
