We found this original idea on Diana’s blog, where cheerful, colorful craft projects are a favorite theme. She shows how to make an artificial Christmas tree using only Christmas balls and a few simple supplies.
Make an artificial Christmas tree yourself

This is an original way to use Christmas ornaments. It is easy to make and can be adapted in many variations. Place the finished tree on a shelf, on a table, or wherever you want a festive accent.
Make an artificial Christmas tree – materials:

Round Christmas balls in four sizes – one artificial Christmas tree needs about 20 balls, with at least four of each size. Experiment with your favorite colors. You can use one color, choose a different color for each size, or use four balls in one color but different sizes for a spiral effect. A knitting needle about 14 cm long is useful for a large artificial Christmas tree. Use spray paint, if necessary, to match the base to the color of the decorations.

Optional: Add a star or another small ornament to the top of the Christmas tree. Use a spool as the base and spray it to match the balls. You can also cover the spool with paper tape or scrapbook paper.

1. Attach the paper with glue. Insert the knitting needle through the bottom of the spool. If the hole in the spool is too large, fill it with pieces of polystyrene so the needle stands straight.
2. Thread four large Christmas balls onto the needle, sliding the metal loops over the tip. These four balls form the base of the tree.

3. Then add four slightly smaller balls, positioning each one between two larger balls. Continue with smaller ornaments so the tree narrows toward the top. You can add more or fewer balls depending on their size.

4. Place a poinsettia, star, or another ornament at the tip of the needle. Choose whatever fits your style.

5. Leave the base simple, decorate it with green branches, or place it in a planter.
Add a little color and festivity to your Christmas. A handmade artificial Christmas tree can solve many decorating problems in a small space.
