Cumbersome solution space – bed suspended from the ceiling

Everyone dreams of a big king-size bed, but in a small apartment that often feels like "Mission Impossible". Architect Renato Arrigo solved this dilemma cleverly. The bed can hang from the ceiling during the day, disappearing as if by magic and making room for other daily activities. This space-saving solution was implemented in a small apartment in the historic center of Taormina, Sicily, Italy. The wooden platform was equipped with stainless steel wire supports. With an electric hoist, the suspended bed can be moved up and down.

Since the bed is not part of the ceiling itself, Renato emphasized its different look with interesting decor. Contemporary black-and-white graffiti writes the words "space is a luxury." That idea feels especially true in a small apartment with little space, and it gives the interior an artistic touch. The graffiti style works well in this modern apartment.
