The modern family home known as the Hill Cork House blends beautifully into the landscape. Designed by Contaminar Arquitectos, the project uses cork as part of its strong natural identity.

The modern detached house was completed near Leiria, Portugal, with concrete, glass and cork as defining materials. The single-storey building covers 653 square meters and follows a minimalist design language. It is composed of volumes that flow into one another, with large glass openings breaking up the concrete structure. Toward the street and neighboring houses, the home feels closed; toward the garden, it opens through sliding glass doors. The cork-insulated facade gives the property a warm, welcoming appearance, while the green roof helps the house settle into its surroundings. A large swimming pool at the center divides the plan into two zones: the sunlit living room and kitchen to the south, and the bathroom and bedroom areas to the north.
Modern house with elegant interior design
The minimalist house is elegantly but sparingly furnished. Wooden floors and cork-clad interior walls create a visual connection between the different areas. The white kitchen with its futuristic island is highly functional; in the living area, several two-seater sofas form a lounge zone, while the white bathtub in the bathroom invites relaxation after a long day.
