Situated in Aspen, Colorado, the house was designed in order to respond to its Swiss-Style neighbors. The house is finished with similar massing, proportions and materials to its surrounding neighbors. Built by Studio B Architects, the Kendrick House has three levels that are connected with a floating stair. The stair play role as the light shaft to the lower level since it was designed with open detailing and light. This suburban family home locates the public area in the upper level, which is covered by a large walkway consisting of two decks and a spiral stair from the rear deck with an access to the rooftop terrace. The walkway also serves privacy for the owners and plays role as a roof for the lower level – the entry level. The house’s exterior is finished with unusual eye-catching design. In order to allow the house blending with the surrounding greenery, the wood materials are used. Large windows let the interior to be filled with lots of natural light. The interior is furnished with modern furniture and stylish arrangements, which make it very comfortable.
