Japanese artist Harumi Nakashima is known for free-form sculptures covered with small dots. The structure of his work always looks organic, yet strange, creating the impression that the pieces come from another civilization. Nature and art are perfectly connected in this way. Nakashima is associated with the modern art movement in Japan called Sodeisha. This art form emerged as a reaction against the traditional folk style and philosophy that had long dominated the country’s art world. Sodeisha was founded in the 1940s and offers a modern vision in which ceramic sculptures lose their practical function and can be considered decorative objects.
