This beautiful garden design by CultivArt Landscape Design shows a small garden in a new light. A small yard does not have to be only storage space or a patch of lawn; it can become an exotic oasis. Trees play an important role in the garden . In summer, they offer privacy and shade, and in winter they help protect the house from wind.
Trees in the garden – lush shrubs offer privacy

CultivArt Landscape designer Janine Mendel wanted a lush garden, but when she bought her dream home, she had only a narrow courtyard. With plenty of imagination, she transformed it into an exotic garden oasis. The courtyard was meant to be a refuge from the hectic pace of big-city life, so the design was kept as natural as possible. Even the wooden garden path looks natural and recalls a forest road. The result feels like an exotic island rather than a backyard in a densely populated area.
Trees in the garden bring a Mediterranean touch

The garden was laid out in three phases. First, the courtyard was surrounded with a wooden fence and medium-height perennials. It was also shielded from neighboring houses by a high stone wall. Several four-meter-high palms and two lemon trees were planted in the middle of the property. The trees in the garden provide sun protection on hot summer days and bring a touch of the Mediterranean. In one small garden corner, stone was used to soften the transition between terrace and garden. The combination of high and low plants brought variety to the garden, and the small yard now looks much more spacious and open.
