The technique takes its name from the traditional Japanese textile art of shibori. Translated, the Japanese verb "shiboru" means "to wring, squeeze or press." Traditionally, silk, cotton, linen and wool can be processed by hand. Parts of the fabric are dyed while other areas are resisted and remain lighter, producing beautiful flowing shades.
