If a porch makes you think of warm summer nights, a rocking chair, and a cold drink in hand, you are not alone. A porch is a covered terrace with open sides, attached to the outside of a house and usually running along one or more exterior walls. A wooden veranda deck can be partially enclosed or surrounded by a balustrade.
Create a cozy covered porch

The original porch dates back to the colonial period and is usually made of wood. Distinctive wooden elements, often richly decorated, are typical. Today, porches are especially common in Australia, the United States, and Sweden. In Germany, the wooden porch is less widespread.
Covered porch

The covered wooden porch can be more than a place where people come and go if you furnish and decorate it invitingly. If you have enough living space, set it up with beautiful, comfortable furniture. Think of the porch as a pleasant extension of your home where people can relax and spend time.

Put a rug on the wooden porch floor to create the atmosphere of a room, just as you would inside the house. Plants and flowers in pots around your patio are an absolute must. A large potted palm in the corner, a terracotta pot with petunias on a table, or hanging baskets with fuchsias can look fantastic.
