We present a modern cardboard cat house that can successfully replace a scratching post. Dutch designers Krabhuis recently brought this innovative and stylish pet furniture to market.
Modern cat house offers play fun for your pet
For some reason, cats love cardboard boxes and packaging: they play and sleep inside them. A scratching post also plays an important role in a cat’s daily life, helping with claw care and providing a surface to scratch. Krabhuis successfully combines a modern house with a cat scratching post. The house looks like a child’s drawing, with a simple design, window and chimney. In reality, however, it is a carefully thought-out concept that makes animals feel comfortable. The pet furniture measures 38 x 34 x 52 cm. One side of the cat house is left open. The cat can sharpen its claws on the roof, look out at the world through the window or simply sleep inside.
Modern cat house combined with scratching post
The cat house is not supplied in sections, but completely finished. Each house is built from 48 layers of recycled cardboard. The different parts are produced in Rotterdam and then assembled by a foundation for people with disabilities. The project supports employment for disabled people in the Netherlands. Today, cats around the world, from New York to Taipei, enjoy the benefits of the project. It integrates seamlessly into any environment and offers a personal space where the cat can feel at ease.
