Today, I will not tell you about an interior, but about a house extension project in the Ardennes.
The project was led by Ms. Belleville, the contractor on this project with Camif Habitat.
The owners turned to Camif Habitat because they felt cramped in a house inherited from their ancestors. With five children, they needed more space, and they also wanted a proper laundry room.
Once the decision was made, they moved ahead.
The extension makes a complete break with the existing structure.
The original house, an old farm barn used by previous generations, was built with wood paneling and earthen walls, two predominant elements of the Ardennes style. The extension is modern, with a brighter color that contrasts with the style of the existing house.
Inside, the owners also chose a clear break from the rustic style that characterizes the objects and furniture in the main house.
Here, the color palette moves toward much brighter tones, with green, pink, and purple in the children's rooms. A corridor acts as a transition between the old and new parts of the house.
This shift in architectural and decorative tone seems to delight the whole family. Their relatives feel the same, apart from a few purists who do not look kindly on the mix. And you, what do you think? Would you be tempted by an extension project for your own home?
