Games of Reflections and Geometry in the Norwegian National Tourist Routes

25/01/2012 – In 2011, the Norwegian National office for tourism of roads added a new phase: the Troll Wall Restaurant in Trollveggen. The designers Reiulf Ramstad Arkitekter called the project the magic route between nature and architecture.
These two works are part of the National Tourist Route, a beautiful natural Park that extends on an area of 600 000 square meters. It can be visited only in summer because of the winter temperature. It is the subject of an intervention that is still in production by the design and organization of tourist services in the order of the Norwegian Ministry of transport.

The realization of the "National Tourist Route" includes 18 design teams in Norway. They called for the development of a number of eco-friendly places for the reception and orientation of tourists in many places of the country.

The Troll Wall Restaurant is a part of these facilities. In the vicinity of the rock wall is a vertical wall, the highest in Europe (with the name of the Troll wall) in the valley Romsdal. The proposal by Reiulf Ramstad is directly linked to the website, with its own identity, which is itself an attraction to the Nation.

The building has a plant, simple and flexible, with a function to cover the geometry and the majestic surrounding countryside. Using wood and glass, the building seems to blend in with the surroundings in a game of reflections and geometries.
