Energy prices continue to rise, so many people are asking how they can save money and reduce heating costs during another cold winter. There are several simple steps you can take so you use less gas for heating.

Some people do not ventilate enough in winter because they fear that warm air will escape and heating costs will rise. If you go on vacation, you should turn the gas heating down to save on heating costs. It does not have to be 20 degrees Celsius throughout the house during this period; you only need a base temperature that prevents water pipes from bursting during a sudden cold snap. If you do not want to return to cold living spaces after the holidays, ask neighbors or family members to turn the heating back up a day before you come home.
