We live in an era when living space is often scarce. Not everyone has an extra room that can be turned into a walk-in closet. Studio Tord Boontje offers elegant solutions even for the smallest spaces. The cabinet is a solid wood wardrobe, a highly functional piece of furniture with a classic aesthetic.
The Wardrobe – solid wood wardrobe in warm wood tones

The solid wood cabinet is a design piece measuring 210 cm high, 110 cm wide, and 80 cm deep. The curving form is inspired by the sculptural beauty of 18th-century furniture. Tord Boontje spent more than 2,000 hours on this unique piece.
Solid wood cabinet design

The solid wood cabinet has a secret – in fact, more than one. Executed in the purest traditional 18th-century style, with hand-applied veneer, the piece also has three hidden drawers. Different types of wood from the Dalbergia family were used in its production. The veneers for the complex geometry are hand-cut from cocobolo wood. The drawers are made of padauk, a hard, heavy wood with a medium-dark color and a distinctive grain.
The wardrobe is comfortable and functional

The lightly glossy, textured surfaces in warm wood tones can be adapted to the customer’s needs. The cabinet doors open with a mechanism. The cabinet is much more art than furniture.
