A modern house with glass fronts seems to have grown out of the landscape. The fascinating project, called Villa V, is located in the Netherlands. Its wood-and-glass facade creates a beautiful example of minimalist architecture.

The wonderful hillside location inspired architect Paul de Ruiter in his design. While one side of the house is closed toward neighboring homes, the house opens with glass facades toward the meadow. The building has two floors and follows minimalist principles. The south side features large windows that provide open views into the distance and create a seamless connection between inside and outside. The north side is built into the hill; a high wooden fence protects the privacy of the ground floor, while the second floor has floor-to-ceiling windows. They let plenty of light into the rooms and make them feel bright and spacious.

The house with glass fronts presents a modern Scandinavian way of living. On the ground floor, the large living room, dining room and kitchen are combined in one open space. The kitchen island sits in the center and serves as a room divider. Nearby are the dining area and a cozy reading corner. A metal staircase with no visible treatment creates an industrial visual accent. On the second floor there is a lounge with a comfortable sofa and a freestanding fireplace. A white wall shelf displays the family's collection of sculptures. The bedroom and bathroom complete the layout. The decor is finished with a simple but elegant palette of neutral colors.
