Mio Karo rugs are made using the traditional Sardinian relief technique known as "pibiones". The Sardinian word can be understood as "grains", referring to the raised texture created by the weaving process. These grains form geometric or highly stylized patterns. In the past, many Sardinian families had a loom at home, and traditional rugs and wall hangings were often produced in white or brown wool with floral, animal, or human motifs.
