Designed by the architectural office DMVA for XfactorAgencies as an extension to a house, the project was repeatedly rejected by local building codes. As architects are used to working with limitations and blurred boundaries, the studio answered with a new design. It created BLOB VB3, a mobile unit that supports a nomadic lifestyle. As a portable structure with a strong dose of art, BLOB VB3 was able to satisfy the strict building regulations.
Mobile unit with a futuristic design

Team FD & C worked as engineers on the project for 18 months, and the result is this smooth white egg-shaped structure. They began by building a wooden frame, which was then covered with a durable polyester material. The shape was created by layering polyester again and again. Inside, built-in niches are lit with LED lights. The space between the outer and inner shells is filled with insulating material.
A fully equipped mobile unit

The Blob VB3 mobile unit contains all the necessary amenities you might need: a bathroom, a kitchen, a bed and several niches where belongings can be stored. The egg-like shell opens automatically to create a small porch.
Shower with pivot door

The mobile unit could easily be used as an office, a bedroom, a garden shed or almost anything else. The material used is polyester, and its size is comparable to a large caravan, so it can be moved wherever it is needed.
