Death by Jumbrella
I have long had a passion for wood, wood worn by the sea or carried by river currents (Italian lacks a precise word for what English calls driftwood). I think this almost-obsession began in Canada and was renewed by the wind in Puglia: this wood carries the magic of natural forces, the marks they leave, and the places it has passed through.
For now I limit myself to collecting it, but some artists use this material as a raw resource, a support, and a source of inspiration for new forms.
This is the case of Ella Robinson , who collects wood on the south coast of England and uses fibres and textiles in bright colors to create unique pieces and small sculptures with a special character. The recycling has already happened before the artist intervenes, so the objects have an almost zero environmental impact while preserving the natural character of each piece of wood.
