Villa Matulji: ‘Essential Useful Beauty and Uniqueness’

01/12/2015 – Matulji-Villa was designed by Zdl architects and has a view to the Kvarner Bay on the Eastern coast of Istria, Opatjia, Croatia. Nestled on a hill it stands out from the rest of the urban system, both in the shape and the materials chosen for the lining.

Echo for the internal selection, the architecturally shaped and user-defined volumes from the outside were the Foundation stone, from where started the work of studio-a29 began.
Every detail has been thought to be the communication and synergy of nature, by the definition of a continuity of forms and expressions that show the essence of the beauty and the usefulness of the uniqueness.

The large windows, the furnishings and the architectural elements that define the scope of the villa all play with the panorama.
The nature is decorative, dynamic and shiny on the inside. The awesome closure is necessary to an intimate dining area: the septum carrier was covered with bricks with the network of a change of direction to a capital, as defined with the connection between the septum and the floor cover.
The kitchen is in unison with the dining room, with the composition of the island being a balanced interplay between the two contexts.
At the intersection of two floors studio-a29 decided, they would create a basement and did it by designing a law firm, the space not otherwise used will give the scale a parapet, and the house is a container. The balance between forms and materials was also requested externally: straight clean lines, giving the pace to the pool area. The lush nature is lush.
